Ladies and Gentleman! It’s time to talk about the fashion event of the year that’s just wrapped up! The Met Gala 2024 brought all the glitz and glam to the Metropolitan Museum of Art on May 6th. This time, the spotlight was on the exhibition called “Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion,” which explored how technology could breathe new life into delicate old garments.
Celebrities graced the museum’s iconic steps, dressed to impress in outfits inspired by the theme “The Garden of Time.” Throughout the night, we got to see all the stunning looks from the Met Gala 2024, each one telling its own unique story. The theme drew inspiration from J.G. Ballard’s tale, where a count slows down time by picking roses from his garden to ward off an approaching mob. This theme perfectly matched the exhibit’s blend of old-world charm and modern innovation, promising a red carpet adorned with everything from traditional florals to cutting-edge fashion.

01 Zendaya

After showcasing some cool tennis-themed outfits to promote Challengers, Zendaya kept up her fashionable streak on the Met Steps. She wore a beautiful blue one-shoulder gown by Maison Margiela, decorated with fancy 3D leaves and berries. To top it off, she added a feathered headpiece and rocked a classic beauty look inspired by Clara Bow.

In case you thought Zendaya would settle for just one outfit as co-chair, think again! Hours later, she graced the carpet once more, this time wearing a black gown from Givenchy’s spring 1996 collection. She added a vibrant headpiece inspired by bouquets, designed by Philip Treacy for Alexander McQueen’s spring 2007 collection.

Kim Kardashian made her return to the Met steps! For the 2024 Met Gala—the reality star and entrepreneur’s 11th year attending—she donned a custom look from Maison Margiela. Keeping up with her tradition of attending every Met Gala since 2013, Kim Kardashian wore a perfectly fitting custom Maison Margiela couture gown at the 2024 event. The gown had pretty floral embroidery on the skirt and a knitted top.

Gigi Hadid looked absolutely glamorous in a white Thom Browne gown adorned with yellow roses, black trim, and a big train at the Met Gala 2024. The piece was an off-the-shoulder column dress with a massive detachable skirt with dramatic ruffles. The dress had a radiant sheen that accentuated Hadid’s hourglass figure, and at the centre of the waist, an embroidered yellow rose with black petals took the spotlight. Other roses adorned the ample skirt, which flowed onto the carpet. To match, Hadid carried a bouquet of yellow roses tonight.

While most celebrities take it one step at a time to make the most of the spotlight at the prestigious event, things were different at the Met Gala 2024 for Tyla. The Water singer made her debut at this year’s edition of the A-list event held in New York. However Tyla didn’t walk her way up the steps of the Met. She had the luxury of being carried up the steps by a group of strapping attendees, owing to the designer creation she had on. She wore a form-fitting Balmain gown inspired by an hourglass, which was made of actual sand and plaster and adorned with tiny crystal studs. To complete her unique look, she carried a handbag shaped like a real hourglass.

The 26-year-old actress, who recently starred in and produced the 2024 horror movie Immaculate, graced the red carpet in a strikingly sophisticated dress that exemplified the event’s dress code: “The Garden of Time.” Looking straight out of a fairy tale, Sweeney wore a baby blue Miu Miu ball gown with a full tulle skirt that had delicate embroidered flowers on it. It had a massive train for added drama, and she amped up her look even more with black opera gloves. She paired it with leather gloves, De Beers jewellery, and a chic dark bob hairstyle with bangs.

Certainly, one of the most eagerly awaited stars of the night, Blackpink member Jennie Kim. The 28-year-old superstar wore a custom-made Alaïa blue mini-dress with an asymmetrical cut-out across the midriff. The dress also featured a high-neck neckline and long train, which Kim paired with a matching pair of strappy heels. She accessorized the look with a sleek ponytail, a gold belly chain and pearl earrings, which matches the elemental feel of the “Garden of Time” dress code. Alia Bhatt, who picked a traditional look, stunned with her ensemble. The actor’s red carpet-look is a hand-embroidered saree designed by Indian fashion designer Sabyasachi Mukherjee. For her second appearance at the Met Gala, Alia wore a saree featuring a 23-foot-long embroidered train. The ensemble features hand-embroidered silk floss and glass beading.

Fresh from being the headliner at Coachella, Lana Del Rey continued to captivate in a look that drew inspiration from the darker side of nature. The singer arrived at the star-studded carpet on Monday night wearing a veiled cream Alexander McQueen sheath gown by Seán McGirr. The corseted dress, an haute couture version of the fit-and-flare silhouette from the label’s spring/summer line, was adorned with hand-embroidered vines that climbed up from her skirt, adorned with a crystal-embellished red rose corsage.

Reflecting her unique presence as a music artist, Janelle Monáe looked absolutely stunning in a sheer custom Vera Wang gown at the Met Gala. The singer and actress, 38, stepped up her Met Gala wardrobe with a skin-revealing gown that channeled this year’s dress code and theme, named “The Garden of Time” and “Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion” respectively.
Monáe wore a dress made of holographic discs that curved around her body and down the design’s mini-train. While the entire number seemed to be created from a see-through fabric, it still featured waist cutouts and a plunging sweetheart neckline for a dose of sexiness.

On Monday, the “Russian Doll” star, 41, Greta showed up on the red carpet embodying the evening’s theme of “Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion” in an enchanting naked dress covered in fluffy white flowers at the New York Met Gala 2024 event. She paired the sheer lace gown designed by Loewe with silver rings, simple white heels, and a black mullet-style wig that was hand-chopped by hairdresser Jenny Cho. Her choice of attire harmonized flawlessly with the theme of the evening, Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion. Sarah walked the green carpet in Richard Quinn’s sparkling midi dress, adorned with Swarovski crystals.
The dress, inspired by a birdcage, boasted delicate white lace appliqué beneath the crystal embellishments. It depicted the intricate motifs of leaves and flowers that perfectly aligned with the theme of this year’s Met Gala.
